DesBox Complex

Container City™ has been commissioned by the Wycombe District Council to design and construct a complex of art studios and associated facilities formed from 135 recycled shipping containers in Baker Street, High Wycombe. The scheme provides studios for the local artist community. The complex is composed of 52 studio units arranged on 3 floors, a ground floor café  and storage rooms of varying sizes on each floor and is produced in Container City’s new, purpose built factory in Suffolk.

The site of DesBox is in part a redundant municipal car park, and in part a now demolished car servicing premises. The project is one of several  new developments in High Wycombe aimed to regenerate the area with new Aldi Supermarket, a restaurant, multi-storey car park and new leisure facilities to be constructed alongside the art complex. The site has a “meanwhile” designation, but the council expects DesBox to remain in place for at least 20 years.
