The container structure we will show you today is located on the East Side of Long Island in Amagansett, New York. This container building, winner of the AIA Peconic award, is used as an art studio.

The art studio was built by placing two 40 FT shipping containers on the high foundation wall. A 9 ‘foundation wall was made to reveal a large area in the house. Later, 40 FT shipping containers purchased for $ 2500 each were placed on this wall.

75% of the lower parts of the shipping containers placed have been cut and a spacious environment with high ceilings has been achieved. Cutting the bottoms of the containers allowed the art gallery to be kept at the bottom. A staircase inside acts as a transition between the artworks downstairs and the sitting and working area upstairs.

Built for the customer who needs an art studio next to his house, this building offers a total of 840 sqft of usage area. The approximate cost of this wonderful container house is around $ 60,000.

The shipping containers are painted black to match the original home and retreat in the shadows of the densely forested landscape.
